Superintendent Ross investigates when a man is found dead, shoved under the seat, in a bloody train compartment.

Review

‘The Two Ticket Puzzle’ concerns the murder of a manufacturer on a railroad coach. And to make matters more curious, a prize ram was shot just one week before the crime. From such apparently unrelated facts, the skillful Inspector Ross ferrets out the truth.

There is a suspicious-appearing doctor, who loves the wife of the slain man; an attorney with a rare criminological library; a girl who likes to dance and knows more than she will tell—and several more assorted suspects, with the seven bullets and all the clues in plain sight. In fact the clues in this yarn are in such plain sight that the reader has a good chance of guessing the truth quite a bit ahead of time—if he is shrewd.

The plot is ingeniously constructed and well worked out. All in all a prize for the mystery shelf. Finicky fans should not miss it.
