The Golden Centipede

Published in 1910, The Golden Centipede, a romantic adventure set in West Africa, included elements of both “lost race” and cryptozoological fiction. Major Sinclair, an adventurous bird-collector, is bound for West Africa when he encounters a youthful criminal with more than one secret. Sinclair is soon caught up in the danger surrounding “The Babe,” as a murderous legacy and traitorous alliances endanger plans to locate a lost treasure guarded by a monstrous terror.
